I sailed here from Scotland, and it took nearly a year to get from the other side of the archipelago to El Hierro, looking for local and trusted people and skills in the islands. On Lanzarote connected with the biosphere (government) representatives, with the Canaries Climate Change guru and organiser. On Gran Canaria with the Oceanographic Society, environment “minister”, activists, environmental filmmaker and photographers, artists, EU funding specialists of the university, academics on oceans, energy engineers, permaculture enthusiasts/consultants, alternative economy protagonists and researchers, .. Tenerife – bio-sewage treatment designer, bio farmer/business owner/builder/philosopher. La Palma – perma-culture style bio banana grower, alternative economy networks, energy cooperative leader, alternative society members, artist/lawyers.
